How well is it built?

Fox haven't cut corners here. The frame is robust hi-tensile steel that's built to last, and it extends in length with extendable side rails when you need more room.

The power box sits across the width of the frame at the rear. That keeps the weight evenly spread, which is exactly what a barrow with rear wheels needs.

Wiring is protected with IP68 rated waterproof connection cables, and they're positioned so the frame, handles and wheel assembly still break down easily and compactly.

Even the small details feel thought through. There's a power shut off button, and the supplied charger plugs straight into the power box, so you don't have to disconnect the batteries for each charge.

You can tell this barrow has been built with real session use in mind. For barrow anglers pushing long distances with a full load, this kind of strength matters.

Manoeuvrability

This is where the Power Plus earns its place at the top. The 24v in-hub motor delivers a huge 350w of power, and Fox describe it as best-in-class performance.

The thumb controller gives you forward and reverse gears. Reverse is a genuine help when you're backing out of a tight swim with a full load on.

The real difference is the wheel layout. Two rear 360 degree rotation castor wheels mean the barrow supports its own weight, so you guide it rather than hold it up.

On a single-wheeled barrow you have to load the weight to the front and balance it the whole way. Here the weight is spread evenly, and that makes it far more stable over uneven ground or when stopping mid-slope.

The removable handles are ergonomically shaped with a cross brace and height adjustability, so it's comfortable to walk behind whatever your height.

Storage Capacity

The Power Plus isn't just about hauling a lot, it's about doing it smartly. The frame extends in length and the side rails extend too, so the load area grows with the session.

You get a Camolite Under Barrow Bag included, and it can be accessed from the top or from both sides. That makes it easy to fish off the barrow without unloading everything.

Two mesh storage pockets sit either side of the wheel, which are perfect for a 5 litre water bottle or bait.

It also comes with two sets of Bucket Brackets for 17 litre Fox or Spomb buckets, plus two FX Universal Barrow Straps to keep everything locked down.

For a long session with bedchair, shelter, bait buckets and food, there's the space and the stability to carry it in one trip.

Is it good value for money?

Let's be clear, this is a premium barrow with a price tag to match. But when you look at what's included, the value becomes apparent.

The two 9Ah 12v batteries and the charger come in the box. With plenty of power barrows you're buying those separately, and that soon adds up.

You also get the under barrow bag, the bucket brackets and the barrow straps as standard, rather than being left to add them later.

This kind of quality does cost more upfront than a non-powered barrow. But if you regularly fish long sessions and haul heavy gear to far swims, the Power Plus could very easily pay for itself in saved effort alone.
