Ready Rigged or Unrigged

Ready rigged soft lures come with the hook and weight already fitted, so they are ready to clip on. Unrigged bodies are cheaper per lure and are fitted to a jig head of the weight you choose.

Packs of several bodies are common for the smaller sizes.

Paddle Tails and Other Shapes

Paddle tail shads kick their tail as they move, and are the most common soft lure for pike. Grubs, creatures and eels give a different action in the water.

Replicant style lures copy the look of a real roach, perch or pike.

Sizes

Soft lures run from small perch sizes of 5cm to pike sizes of 20cm and more. Each listing gives the lengths and weights in stock.

Soft shads and replicant lures are among the picks in our best pike lures guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a paddle tail shad?

It is a soft fish shaped lure with a flat tail that kicks as the lure moves through the water. It is one of the most used pike lures.

Do soft lures come with hooks?

Ready rigged soft lures do. Unrigged bodies need a jig head or another rig, and each listing says which kind it is.

What size soft lure is best for pike?

Soft lures of 12cm and up are a common choice for pike. Smaller sizes in the same range suit perch and zander.

What jig head weight do I need?

It depends on the depth and the flow. Heavier heads get down faster, and each lure page lists any weight the maker suggests.

How long do soft lures last?

Pike teeth tear soft plastic, so bodies wear out over time. Many anglers carry spare bodies of their favourite lures.
