How well is it built?

RidgeMonkey have clearly put some serious thought into the Hunter 3000. The carbon-effect ABS hull looks the part and feels noticeably more substantial than the Hunter 750 that came before it.

It’s a bigger, heavier boat, and that extra size translates to a more confident feel on the water.

The electromagnetic hopper is fitted with a stainless steel plate, which is a nice upgrade.

The magnetic hopper cover keeps everything sealed during transit, and the top-loading design means you can load your rig and bait without flipping the boat over or fiddling with awkward hatches.

Both the boat and the controller carry an IP55 rating for water and dust resistance, which gives you some confidence if conditions turn rough.

What are the features like?

The Hunter 3000 keeps things relatively simple on the feature front. There’s no GPS or sonar on the standard model, which puts the emphasis on the fundamentals. What it does, it does well.

Cruise control is the standout feature. Set your speed and the boat maintains it, which is useful for consistent bait runs at range.

The full-beam bright mode helps with visibility at distance during low light, and the LED power meter on the controller gives you a clear read on battery status.

The one-handed remote is genuinely intuitive. The joystick is responsive and the boat reacts smoothly to inputs. It’s the kind of controller that you pick up and just understand, which matters when you’re guiding a boat 400 metres out in the dark.

If you want sonar capability, the Echo Edition at a comparable price adds a built-in echo sounder with a 3.5-inch LCD IP66-rated monitor and bankstick mount.

It’s a decent setup that integrates cleanly, though it pushes the price into territory where it starts competing with boats that include GPS as well.

Performance & Handling

The 3kg bait capacity is a big step up from the 750’s 1kg. You can load a proper bed of bait and deliver it in one run without having to make multiple trips. The single top-loading hopper is spacious enough for most rigs and presentations.

On the water, the larger hull sits more confidently than the 750 ever did. It tracks straighter, handles chop better, and doesn’t sit as low in the water. The dual motors give it good manoeuvrability for its size, and it turns tighter than you’d expect from a boat this long.

Battery life is quoted at around 110 minutes, which is less than the 750’s claimed 4 hours. That’s the trade-off for a bigger, faster boat with more powerful motors.

For most sessions it’s enough, but if you’re doing extended campaigns with lots of long-range runs, having a spare pair of batteries on the bank is worth considering. The USB-C charging means you can top up between runs if you’ve got a power bank handy.

Is it good value for money?

At a comparable price, the Hunter 3000 sits in an interesting part of the market. You’re getting class-leading range and speed, a solid build, and that top-loading hopper design that RidgeMonkey pioneered.

The brand carries weight too, with a customer service reputation that’s consistently praised.
