How well is the Toslon X Bait Boat built?

Toslon haven’t cut corners with the X Boat. The body is tough, made from high-impact plastic with industrial-grade waterproofing via the Double Sealing System (DSS). Every contact point, from battery trays to charger sockets, is well sealed.

This is a boat that can handle rain, spray, and even rougher sessions where water gets everywhere. The hatch doors are metal with magnetic closures and have been upgraded from previous models for better reliability.

The rubberised carry handle moulded into the hull is a welcome touch, providing comfort when walking the boat to the swim or loading into a car. The boat's modular internals make maintenance and part replacement much simpler compared to some competitors.

For instance, you can remove the internal hopper divider if you want to create one large single hopper instead of two, ideal for big baiting applications. While the Flysky remote could be a little more ergonomic, it’s rugged and functional.

It’s backed by excellent warranties: 2 years on the boat, autopilot, and sonar, which is more generous than most.

How does it perform and handle?

On the water, the X Boat is every bit the premium unit. The twin industrial motors provide more than enough thrust to push a fully loaded boat (up to 5kg of bait) without bogging down.

Despite the payload, the boat handles like a much lighter unit thanks to its catamaran hull design, which

provides a low centre of gravity and excellent balance, even in wind or light chop. One of the standout aspects is how quiet it is. Unlike cheaper boats that hum or churn as they move, the X Boat glides across the surface, allowing for stealthier baiting.

Navigation is accurate and smooth, particularly when using the GPS autopilot.

The boat holds a straight line very well, and its turning circle is tight enough to hit close-range margins or steer around snags without fuss.

The propellers are housed within protective shrouds, reducing the chance of weed snags or line fouling, and thrust directors help maintain tracking even when operating at distance. Battery life is excellent, over 6 hours of continuous use, depending on load and range.

And because the rig release is controlled independently of the hoppers, you can choose to drop your hookbait either with or without bait, allowing for highly customised presentations.

Is it good value for money?

Okay, so there is no denying that this is an expensive boat, no question, but you’re getting flagship-grade functionality and genuine reliability. Compared to other boats offering autopilot, sonar, GPS and dual hoppers, it’s competitively priced.

It’s worth noting that the TF520 sonar and X-Pilot system together punch well above their weight. You could easily spend more on similar features set from other brands.
