Penn’s Slammer IV is a sea spinning reel for heavy lure fishing from boat or shore. Its full-metal body and sideplate house CNC gearing with a brass main gear, while an IPX6-sealed body and spool keep the reel’s main structure enclosed.
The bearing-supported Slammer drag is sealed and gives a wider usable drag range. Sizes 3500 to 10500 use Dura-Drag, while the 8+1 stainless-steel bearing system and hydrophobic line roller bearing form part of the reel’s running gear.
The 3500 weighs 394g, has a 6.2:1 gear ratio, 13.6kg maximum drag and 240m of 0.28mm mono capacity. The 5500 weighs 629g, uses a 5.6:1 ratio, has 18.1kg maximum drag and 390m of 0.28mm mono capacity. Both sizes have automatic bail trip.
