Fox Rage TR Reel Review

The Fox Rage TR Reel series is a relatively new addition to the reputable 'Rage' predator range that still comes with the same build quality and engineering precision that has made it so popular. The lightweight magnesium alloy body provides a robust foundation while keeping the overall weight impressively manageable at 220g for the 1500 size and 232g for the 2500 model.

The carbon-reinforced rotor and CNC-machined aluminium drive gear demonstrate Fox's commitment to durability, while the carbon-bearing cover adds protection without compromising the reel's lightweight design. The oversized cork/EVA handle offers a unique-looking yet really comfortable grip in all conditions with the low-profile bail arm ensuring smooth line management without adding unnecessary bulk.

In testing, both TR models delivered outstanding performance across various lure fishing scenarios. The 10+1 ball bearing system provides remarkably smooth operation, which, in my opinion, is a godsend when working lures all day.

The 1500 size, with its faster 6.2:1 gear ratio, excels at rapid lure retrieval and reactive techniques, while the 2500 model's 5.1:1 ratio offers excellent control for more methodical approaches. The rubber grip band on the spool proves invaluable for braid users, eliminating any concerns about line slip without requiring backing line.

The front drag system offers precise control and smooth adjustment, which is very much needed if there are larger fish in the water and you are using light gear. To top it all off, the price of the Rage TR is in the affordable range making it a great option for both beginners and more experienced anglers looking for reputable quality.
