Shakespeare Ugly Stik GX2 Kayak Rod Review
The Shakespeare Ugly Stik GX2 Kayak Rod adapts the legendary Ugly Stik durability to the specific demands of kayak fishing through its specialised length options and purposeful design. The long tip/short butt configuration proves particularly effective from a seated position, offering enough sensitivity to enjoy smaller species while maintaining the backbone needed for larger fish fought directly below the kayak.
Its construction focuses power in the mid-section and butt, exactly where kayak anglers need it most, while the shorter lengths (4ft one-piece and 5ft two-piece) provide practical choices for different kayak fishing scenarios. While the EVA handle and overall finish might lack the refinement of premium rods, the GX2 Kayak delivers dependable performance with the durability kayak anglers need, making it a practical choice for this specialised type of fishing.
