How well is the Nash Trax Metro Mk2 Barrow built?

Nash have gone with a high-strength steel frame that feels dependable straight out of the box. I’ve used this barrow on both soft ground and gravelled banks, and it’s held up well with no signs of flex or stress. The modular layout is smart and well-executed.

The frame supports the under-barrow bags without sagging, and the cam-lock extending front supports feel more secure than standard pin systems. Even when fully loaded, there’s no creak or give when manoeuvring.

Things like moulded ergonomic handles and spring-locking leg adjustments make it feel premium. It’s also reassuring that Nash’s removable wheel system uses a locking pin, which adds a level of security often missing on cheaper barrows.

How does it handle on the bank?

For a single-wheel barrow, it’s surprisingly agile. The all-terrain tyre is wide enough to avoid sinking, and the angled rear legs with large mud feet give great stability when stationary.

Because the rear legs are angled and fully height-adjustable, I could tweak the setup to avoid handle strain, something that makes a huge difference when walking any sort of distance.

In tight spaces or near fences and bivvies, the footprint is minimal. You’re not swinging a wide rear axle around like you are with power barrows or wide three-wheel designs.

How much can it carry and store?

For the size, the Nash Trax Metro Mk2 stores a lot of gear. The large central drop-in carryall is deep and well-rimmed, and its waterproof base keeps your gear dry even on soggy banks.

The twin flanking compartments are ideal for balancing your load, and having side-zip access to all three under-barrow areas is a big plus.

It means you can fish off the barrow or grab bait and tools without removing your main load. The frame’s extending front and multiple tie-down points allow for flexibility in how much kit you bring.

It’s not going to rival heavy-duty three-wheelers, but for standard session use, there’s no shortage of space.

Is it good value for money?

At just under £250, the Metro Mk2 falls into the mid-range price bracket, and delivers excellent value for what you get. The modular design, quality frame, and well-thought-out storage make it a smart investment.

Unlike cheaper models, everything on this barrow feels intentional. You're not dealing with wobbly handles or makeshift brackets. It’s engineered to be used, not just admired.
