Product Information

The Trakker RLX 6 Leg Bed is a six-leg fishing bedchair for angling sessions, built around a plush mattress with adjustable lumbar support. Its completely flat profile and spirit level help you level it on uneven banks, while the padded support is placed where you need it.

A bespoke camo finish completes the bedchair.

Six adjustable legs use rotating mud feet to spread the load across the frame. Double-hinge technology lets a sleeping bag remain attached when the bed is folded, and it opens by simply unclipping and unfolding.

Two side-securing straps compress it for storage, with pillow-retainer toggles at the head end.

The outer is 100% polyester, and the bed measures approximately 200cm long by 74cm wide. Its legs adjust from 38cm to 50cm, it weighs approximately 10.85kg, and its maximum load is 130kg under normal use. It is compatible with the 208305 RLX Bed Cover Camo.

Trakker RLX 6 Leg Bed Review

For me, the Trakker RLX 6 Leg Bed hits a sweet spot between comfort and weight. You get a plush mattress with lumbar support you can adjust, a completely flat profile with its own spirit level and six legs on rotating mud feet, and the double hinge lets you fold it with your bag still on.

The whole thing weighs about 10.85kg, which is light for a bed with that much kit. What's the catch? Mainly the width, because at 74cm across it's on the narrow side, and a bigger angler will be better off on something roomier like the Fox Camolite XL.

If you're of average build, though, I think it's a really well-judged bed that needs neither a barrow nor a big budget.

How well is it built?

Trakker have kept the RLX frame simple and sensible. The tubing has a textured black finish, the six legs sit on rotating mud feet that spread the load, and from the photos each leg has a lever clamp marked lock and unlock, so it's easy to see at a glance when a leg is secure.

The maximum load is 130kg under normal use, which covers most anglers comfortably, and the outer is 100% polyester in Trakker's own camo pattern.

To be fair, it doesn't have the machined CNC hinges of the Avid Benchmark Ultra or the heavyweight build of a top-end bed, and that's why it scores a little lower for build than for comfort.

Overall, I think it's a well-made frame that should stand up to regular use, just without the over-engineering you pay extra for on the dearer beds.

Comfort & Adjustability

Comfort is where the RLX punches above its price. Trakker let you adjust the lumbar support in the plush mattress, so you can set it where your lower back needs it, and from the photos the top is a soft fleece inside a padded camo rim.

Levelling it on an uneven bank is easy thanks to the flat profile and spirit level, and the legs run from 38 to 50cm, which is a generous range. There are pillow-retainer toggles at the head end as well, so your pillow stays put when you turn over.

So, how does it compare with memory foam? It isn't quite in the same league as the Avid Benchmark Ultra, but overall I think it's a very comfortable bed for the money, as long as 74cm is wide enough for you.

Ease Of Setup & Portability

At 10.85kg, the RLX is a bed you can carry to the swim without much grief, and it's over three kilos lighter than the Avid Benchmark Ultra Standard. That makes it a realistic option if you don't own a barrow or you like to move swims.

Setting up is pretty much a case of unclipping it and unfolding it, then setting the legs, and the double-hinge design means your sleeping bag can stay attached when you fold it away.

Two side-securing straps then compress it for the car, which keeps the package compact, and Trakker also make a matching RLX Bed Cover Camo for it.

Overall, it's light, quick and tidy to pack, and if you want to save even more weight, the Trakker Big Snooze Bed is lighter still, though its mattress is a simpler one.

Is it good value for money?

Is it good value? I think it is, because it sits in the middle of the market yet gives you adjustable lumbar support, a spirit level and a hinge that folds with your bag on, which are things I'd normally expect to pay more for.

It costs a bit less than the Fox Camolite XL and a good deal less than the Avid Benchmark Ultra, and while both of those give you more width, the RLX is lighter than either of them, which counts for plenty on a bed you'll carry a lot.

Overall, I'd recommend it to carp anglers of average build who fish overnighters and weekenders, carry their gear rather than barrow it, and want proper lumbar support without spending top money. If you're broad across the shoulders, a wider bed is a better bet.
