Product Information

The Prologic Avenger Bedchair is a flat-frame bedchair for anglers who want a padded, waterproof resting place. Its generously padded, sculpted mattress uses subtle green 600D waterproof fabric with Avenger camo, and ultra-strong weather-resistant elastics hold it to the frame.

A double-hinged fold-flat frame keeps the bedchair compact for transport and allows most sleeping bags to stay in place when it is folded away. Every leg adjusts fully and uses a pivoting mud foot, while the flat profile provides the bedchair’s level shape.

The 6 Leg model measures 190 x 70cm, weighs 7kg, adjusts from 30 to 42cm high and carries a 105kg maximum load. The 8 Leg model carries a 120kg maximum load, and both versions have a soft Neoprene pillow with a zip for extra storage, padding and comfort.

Choose the 6 Leg or 8 Leg model according to the maximum load quoted for each.

Prologic Avenger Bedchair Review

Cheap bedchairs always cut corners somewhere, so where has Prologic made the savings on the Avenger? I think it's mostly in the size and the frame. The 6 Leg model measures 190 x 70cm and weighs 7kg, with a double-hinged frame that folds flat and a padded 600D waterproof mattress, and there's an 8 Leg version that lifts the maximum load from 105kg to 120kg.

For me, it makes a lot of sense as a cheap, light bed for overnighters, for a junior, or as a spare for a mate. It's short and narrow, though, so I'd be careful recommending it to taller or bigger anglers, who'll be more comfortable on something roomier.

How well is it built?

There's nothing fancy about the Avenger's frame, and at this price I wouldn't expect there to be. It's a totally flat design that folds on a double hinge, with fully adjustable legs, pivoting mud feet and a mattress held on by weather-resistant elastics.

The 6 Leg model's 105kg maximum load is well below the 130kg rating on the Trakker RLX 6 Leg Bed, which tells you the frame isn't over-built. If you're a heavier angler, the 8 Leg model's 120kg rating gives you more margin, and that's the version I'd pick.

From the photos, the mattress is laced underneath with criss-cross elastic cords, and the legs lock with plastic lever clamps. None of it looks premium, but there's not much to go wrong either.

Overall, it's a basic, sensible frame for occasional nights, though I'd look at something sturdier if you're out every weekend.

Comfort & Adjustability

Comfort is where the Avenger's size catches up with it. At 190cm long and 70cm wide, it's 20cm shorter and 15cm narrower than the Fox EOS Standard, so taller anglers may find their feet near the end and broader anglers won't have much room to turn over.

The mattress itself is generously padded and sculpted, and the 600D waterproof fabric should stop rain or a wet coat soaking straight into it. There's also a soft neoprene pillow with a zip, so you can stash a few small bits inside or add a little extra padding.

The legs adjust from 30 to 42cm, which is enough to level it on most banks. Is it comfortable? For a slim, average-height angler on a night or two, I think it's fine. Overall, it's decent for its size, but the size is the limit.

Ease Of Setup & Portability

Portability is the Avenger's strong point. At 7kg for the 6 Leg model, it's lighter than the Trakker Big Snooze at 8.55kg, although to be fair, the Trakker is a longer and wider bed.

Either way, you can carry it a fair distance without much bother, and it's a manageable weight for a junior.

Thanks to the double hinge, the frame closes up flat, and most sleeping bags can stay in place when it's put away, which saves a bit of a faff at the end of a session.

Setting it up is just a case of unfolding it and adjusting the legs, each with a pivoting mud foot to sit flat on uneven ground.

Overall, I think it's a quick, light and easy bed to live with, and that's exactly what you want for short overnighters and quick moves between swims.

Is it good value for money?

Can a bed this cheap really be good value? I think so, because it's about as cheap as a proper bedchair from a known carp brand gets, and you still get waterproof fabric on a sculpted mattress, a neoprene pillow with a zip and a frame that packs away with the bag left on.

The catch is the size, and the Fox EOS Bed shows why. It costs a bit more, but it's at least 210cm long in every size and up to 98cm wide in the XL, so if you're tall or a bigger build, I'd spend the extra on the Fox instead.

Overall, I'd recommend the Avenger to slim, average-height anglers on a tight budget, to juniors, and to anyone after a light spare bed for summer overnighters. If you're tall or heavily built, it's worth looking at something bigger.
