How well is it built?

Delkim have always been known for exceptional build quality, and the Txi-D v2 takes this to another level entirely.

The enhanced weatherproofing uses a new synthetic rubber coating on all internal components, making this the most durable and weather-resistant Delkim ever produced.

It's worth noting that Delkim's returns rate is less than 1%, with water ingress being an even smaller percentage of that figure. That's a remarkable achievement in itself, but they still listened to customer feedback and improved the v2 further.

The attention to detail is evident everywhere you look, from the precision-engineered casing to the quality of the switches and dials.

The alarms feel substantial in your hand without being heavy or cumbersome. Every control has a satisfying, precise action, and there's none of the rattling or loose-feeling components you sometimes get with cheaper alarm systems.

These are alarms that have been designed to last for decades, not just a few seasons.

The Rx-D v2 receiver is equally well-built, with a robust casing that can withstand being knocked about in your tackle bag or dropped on hard ground. The large, clear LED windows are recessed to protect them from damage, and the overall design is both functional and refined.

How good is bite detection?

The standout feature has to be Delkim's signature piezo vibration sensing technology.

Unlike traditional roller wheel alarms that rely on line movement to trigger a magnet past a switch, the vibration system detects the subtlest movements and line vibrations through piezo sensors.

Turn the sensitivity up, and these will even register a raindrop hitting your mainline.

That level of detection simply isn't achievable with roller-based systems, and it gives you a crucial edge when fishing for wary carp that take tentatively or drop back immediately after picking up the bait.

The beep speed adjustment is genuinely clever. It lets you control how many beeps you get relative to the sensitivity setting, so you can have ultra-sensitive detection without constant false alerts from wind or rain.

This means you get advance warning of liners and dropbacks without the alarm going crazy every time there's a gust of wind.

The vibration sensing also excels at detecting drop-backs, which can be problematic for roller wheel systems. When a fish picks up the bait and moves towards you, creating slack line, the Txi-D v2 will still register the vibration through the line and alert you immediately.

This can be the difference between landing a fish and missing the take entirely.

What are the settings and features like?

The user interface has been streamlined significantly from the original Txi-D. The v1 had so many settings that it could feel overwhelming, but the v2 simplifies the menu system without reducing functionality.

Everything you need is still there, just easier to access and configure.

Straight out of the box, the alarms are preset and paired with the receiver. Insert batteries, turn them on, and you can start fishing immediately.

For those who like to tweak settings, there are 32 tone options, 8 LED brightness levels for both day and night modes independently, and comprehensive customisation options for nearly every aspect of the alarm's behaviour.

Delkim have introduced multi-colour LEDs for the first time, allowing you to choose from six colours (purple, red, white, blue, green, or yellow) across your alarm heads. The LEDs automatically sync with the receiver, making rod identification instant even from inside your bivvy.

The dedicated day and night modes adjust brightness levels perfectly for different light conditions, and in night mode, the LEDs glow continuously at a low level, eliminating the need for expensive isotopes.

The receiver is packed with practical features. The bivvy light function illuminates all four LEDs at the press of a button, giving you just enough light to find your head torch or sort your gear.

The Do Not Disturb (DND) mode is brilliant during heavy rain, temporarily reducing false alerts while still letting proper takes come through. The memory recall button means if you miss a beep, you can press it and see which rod had the indication.

Other standout features include stealth mode (deactivates LEDs during activations while keeping night markings visible), a mute function for when you're resetting bobbins, and an advanced anti-theft system that alerts your receiver if an alarm is moved or turned off unexpectedly.

The digital radio transmission provides 750m range with zero interference, even through obstacles.

Is it good value for money?

The presentation set sits firmly at the premium end of the market. This isn't an alarm system for casual anglers or those on a tight budget. However, the value for money score of 8.5 reflects what you're actually getting for that investment.

You're paying for over 40 years of bite alarm innovation and refinement. You're getting cutting-edge vibration sensing technology that provides unmatched detection sensitivity. You're getting exceptional build quality with enhanced weatherproofing that will last for decades.

And crucially, you're getting outstanding customer support from a company with a proven track record.

Delkim back all their products with a two-year warranty as standard, extendable to three years with online registration. Their after-care service is genuinely impressive.

When I had an issue with my original receiver (entirely my fault), I posted it on Monday morning and had it back, fully repaired, on Friday morning. They even included a branded thermal mug in the parcel.

That's the kind of service that builds customer loyalty and justifies the premium price.

For serious anglers or dedicated specimen hunters who fish regularly and demand absolute reliability, the Txi-D v2 is worth every penny. These alarms won't let you down when it matters most, and that peace of mind is priceless when you're targeting the fish of a lifetime.
