The Shimano Purist PX1 Deadbait is a range of three rods aimed at pike and zander anglers fishing static deadbaits. All three models share the same core specification: full carbon two-piece blank, Shimano Hardlite guides, custom DPS reel seat, full cork handle with aluminium butt cap, and a fitted line clip.
Three models are available. The 8ft 10in is rated up to 15g and Shimano describe it as their zander specialist. The 10ft 2.75lb is rated to 250g and listed for close-range, boat and smaller water pike fishing. The 12ft 3lb is the distance and open-water pike model.
The short white tip section fitted to each rod is a feature Shimano highlight as an aid to bite detection. The line clip allows fishing with the bail open or on a freespool setting, which is standard practice in UK pike deadbait fishing.
Shinamo do not publish a modulus rating for the PX1 Deadbait blank. The Purist PX1 range also includes barbel and river specialist models , the Deadbait variants are a separate product within the same family.

Shimano Hardlite guides. These are Shimano own-brand guides. Shimano do not specify the ring insert material for the Hardlite system on this rod.
It is designed for zander. Shimano rate it at up to 15g, which is a very light casting weight suited to small zander deadbaits rather than the larger baits and heavier leads used in pike fishing. The 10ft 2.75lb and 12ft 3lb are the pike models in the range.
