Reviews & Where To Buy
Being a premium rod with a hefty price tag, these rods are best suited for more experienced carp anglers that have the ability to make the most out of the advanced materials used in the build of the rod.
Carp anglers who require a rod to fish at long-range will also appreciate the advantages that the Korda Kaizen Platinum carp rod brings.
When rating the build quality of a rod, consideration has been given to the basic components.
These include the materials used in the blank, handle, reel seat, and line guides.
We also take into account any additional features that make life on the bank easier for anglers.
How a rod casts is one of the key fundamentals that determine a great rod from a mediocre one.
Easy, frictionless casting that provides accuracy and distance is all rated in this category.
The ability to play fish effectively is an important feature of any fishing rod.
Fishing is a sport, and as part of this sport, feeling the pulls, lunges, and the fight of a fish is an exhilarating experience.
This is all taken into account when rating fishing rods.
How much any fishing rod costs is always a key factor in an angler's final choice.
A rod can have all the bells and whistles under the sun, but if it is unaffordable, it may not be the best choice for some anglers.
This rating considers how the rod performs in all the other categories versus its price point.
"They cast like a dream, offer exceptional accuracy, and are a joy to use. These rods are definitely worth the investment"
"The rods use an extremely high-quality grade of carbon, making them stiffer and lighter for speed and accuracy in casting. They have lightweight TDG C guides, a Fuji DPS reel seat, and a Japanese shrink wrap handle for grip. The rods are finished off with a nice matte black finish, understated graphics, and stainless steel components made by Jag"
"These rods have a really smart and understated look. They have a nice matte black finish with silver flecks on the top and bottom of the reel seat. The Kaizen logo is placed just above the reel seat, and the overall design is sleek and visually appealing"
"I can't stress enough just how impressed I am with these rods with my abilities because I'm no distance caster and yet these are getting the best out of me so far"
"The rods are built to be big distance rods, but even when playing fish, the tip absorbs lunges while the power resides in the beefy part of the rod. It handles fish with ease, providing a balance between playing ability and casting performance"
"These rods are not bespoke, but they are definitely worth the investment. The price range reflects their premium quality, starting from £374.99 to £479.99. Considering their impressive performance, durability, and the high-quality materials used, they offer excellent value for money. Whether you opt for the 13-footers at the higher end or the 12-footers at the lower end, these rods deliver on their promise. They enhance your fishing experience, provide long casting distances, and exhibit top-notch craftsmanship. If you want tools that are capable and enjoyable to use, these rods are a worthwhile investment"

The handle
As a tall guy, I’ve found the handle’s length to be a perfect fit, and the slight flare toward the butt offers an extra degree of control, making those distance casts a tad easier.
The balance and lightweight nature of the handle really does enhance the overall feel and maneuverability of the rod. It’s clear that Korda has put careful thought into its design.
The reel seat
The Fuji DPS reel seat, in my experience, is a gold standard, offering both firm fixation of even the largest reels and also a seamless blend into the overall aesthetics of the rod.
Topped off with attractive silver flecks, the reel seat not only functions brilliantly but also adds a stylish edge to the rod.
The eyes/guides
This rod is equipped with lightweight Tdg C guides, leading from a generous 50mm butt ring down to a 16mm anti-frap tip which is a great setup for distance casting.
In action, I’ve noticed the larger butt eye really allows for the line to funnel smoothly, while the smaller tip ring keeps the line flow tight and accurate.
The blank
One word to describe the rod blank… Progressive. It’s built from 0.90A Super Tensile High-Grade Japanese carbon, making it remarkably lightweight and stiff, which I feel aids tremendously in casting distance and accuracy.
The understated matte black finish combined with the quality of the blank screams premium – it’s a rod I’m proud to have on my test. You can tell this is top-tier gear.
In summary, the Kaizen Carp Rod has emerged as a truly standout offering from Korda bearing in mind that carp rod is not their forte, scoring an impressive 8.9 overall. This exceptional score doesn’t come lightly, considering the rod was measured against other industry giants of the carp rod world.
Korda really has made an impressive leap into the high-end carp rod market with the Kaizen. The quality of the build is immediately apparent and you can just tell a lot of thought and research has gone into every component.
This is a rod that feels great in the hand and even better on the cast. Distance and accuracy are two standout attributes of the Kaizen. I found myself comfortably achieving distances of 130 yards and beyond which, for me, is a triumph.
However, the Kaizen is not all about brute force. Its balanced action means that every lunging carp can be effortlessly managed, offering an experience that almost rivaled the superb sensitivity of the Free Spirit Hi-S.
Every product, however exceptional, has its downsides. The Kaizen’s notable disadvantage is its substantial price tag, a hurdle that might deter some potential users.
It’s also worth noting that this is a specialist rod designed for distance casting. Consequently, its attributes might not be fully appreciated by the angler who frequently finds themselves casting shorter distances.
There is an exception to this though in that the 12-foot, 3lb test curve model is a well-balanced option for shorter distances. I just wish that there was a 3.25lb test curve alternative but that is largely down to personal preference.
Nonetheless, the Korda Kaizen Platinum carp rod is a truly stellar performer in the carp rod market, finding its unique space amidst top-rated rods. Its high score is indicative of its superior quality, impressive casting ability, and balanced action.
Despite its hefty price tag and potential overkill for short-range use, the Kaizen leaves an undeniable impression and deserves serious consideration from any devoted angler looking to level up their gear.
