Shimano’s SLX DC 71 is a left-hand baitcasting reel for lure anglers, pairing the compact SLX body with i-DC4 Digital Control. The smaller 70/71 size uses an MGL III spool for lighter lures, while the DC system is designed to make casting effortless.
Its self-powered onboard microcomputer generates its own electricity and takes care of the braking once you have selected a setting. An aluminium HAGANE Body provides the frame for the precision gearing, and the aluminium S3D spool reduces vibration during casting and retrieval.
The drag is not waterproof.
There are four braking modes. Mode 1 uses the least magnetic braking for maximum distance, Mode 2 manages braided line, and Mode 3 suits fluorocarbon or stiffer lines. Mode 4 uses the greatest magnetic braking for maximum control when skipping.
