Drennan Acolyte Ultra Float Rod

Product Information

Exceptionally slim, lightweight carbon blanks are the basis of the Drennan Acolyte Ultra float rods, which come in 14ft and 15ft lengths.

The 14ft has a high modulus carbon blank and weighs 5.25oz (149g), and Drennan says it is better balanced than most 13ft rods. It is designed principally for reel lines from 2lb 8oz to 4lb and over, which is roughly 0.12mm to 0.18mm monofilament.

The blank feels very rigid, with a light, crisp action and little or no bounce for line and float control, while the tip is soft enough to cushion the strike and prevent hook pulls. That allows hooklengths below 1lb (0.08mm) to be fished.

The 15ft is a three-piece rod and is particularly suitable for river fishing, where its crisp tip section gives line control with stick floats, wagglers and bolo floats. The extra length is also an asset in deeper swims.

It weighs approximately 5¾oz (163g) and is matched with reel lines from 3lb to 5lb (1.4kg to 2.3kg) and hooklengths from 4lb (0.15mm) down to 1½lb (0.09mm).
