How Solid Is The Frame?

The adjustable leg system works well. Both legs adjust independently, and the mechanisms lock securely once you've set the height. I've had mine set up on sloping banks without any issues with legs slipping or the cradle shifting about.

The folding mechanism is straightforward. Legs fold in on themselves and the whole thing collapses down reasonably compact. Nothing complicated to go wrong, which adds to the long-term reliability.

The anti-stink bag that comes with it is actually decent quality too, not the thin stuff that splits after a few uses.

Does It Keep Carp Safe?

The fully padded design provides excellent fish protection. The padding covers all the frame components, so even lively carp that thrash about won't come into contact with hard metal. That's proper fish care, not just marketing talk.

The Velcro retention cover is genuinely useful. It secures with strips at the front and folds over each corner, so there's no chance of it opening accidentally. When you've got a fish in and need to run for scales or your camera, you know it's safely contained.

The drainage holes in the base are well thought out. Water drains away gradually rather than gushing out in one go. Means you're not getting soaked when water empties, but it's still quick enough that fish aren't sitting in pooled water.

The fish-friendly materials don't damage protective slime when wet. You can tell JRC have put thought into the fabric choice, it's not just standard polyester. The 115cm × 70cm dimensions give you decent space for good-sized carp without making the cradle unnecessarily bulky.

The reflective rim around the edge is brilliant for night fishing. Shines up in your head torch beam so you can see exactly where the cradle is when you're bringing fish in during darkness. Small detail but makes a difference in practice.

How Easy Is It To Transport?

Setup takes a minute or two. You unfold the legs, adjust the height to level it, and you're sorted. Not instant like pop-up designs, but quick enough that it's not a hassle.

The actual dimensions when set up (115×70×42cm) mean it's a decent-sized cradle that doesn't take up excessive space on the bank. Pack-down size is reasonable given the frame construction.

The bag has handles for carrying, though they're not the most robust I've seen. They'll handle the weight fine, just don't expect premium-quality straps. For the price point, they're adequate.

Is It Worth Buying?

At around the £120 mark, the JRC Cocoon 2G sits in sensible territory price-wise. It's cheaper than the Trakker Sanctuary and the Nash Hi-Protect, while offering comparable protection levels.

What you're getting for your money is proper fish protection with the fully padded frame, plus the convenience of a two-leg design that packs down reasonably compact.

The included anti-stink bag is a nice touch. Some brands charge extra for bags or supply rubbish ones. Having a decent bag that actually keeps smells contained adds value to the package.
