How Robust Is The Construction?

The Trakker Sanctuary is built like a tank. The six-leg frame provides exceptional stability, no flex or wobble even with big fish. It's the most rigid cradle I've tested, feels like it'll last decades rather than seasons.

The 420D PVC material is proper heavy-duty gear. It's the same grade Trakker use on their premium bivvies, rugged enough to handle rough treatment and easy to clean after muddy sessions. The material is genuinely fish-friendly when wet, doesn't feel slippery or abrasive.

The high-density foam surrounding the frame is thick and protective. You can't feel the frame through the padding even when pressing hard. This isn't token padding for marketing purposes, it's proper protection that'll keep fish safe from hard edges.

Each of the six legs has independent height adjustment with locking pins. The mechanisms are robust, lock securely once set and don't slip under weight. The rotating mud feet are substantial, not flimsy plastic bits that'll snap off.

Does It Provide Maximum Fish Safety?

This is where the Sanctuary truly earns its name. The combination of high-density foam frame protection and the solid 420D PVC internal cover provides exceptional fish safety. Even the most lively carp can't damage themselves on this cradle.

The internal cover is genuinely versatile. You can use it to retain water in the cradle, keeping fish wet during handling. Or remove it and place it over the fish as a cover during sunny weather to prevent drying and stress.

That flexibility matters when conditions vary, not just a gimmick feature.

The fast-drain mesh base uses the same fabric as Trakker's Sanctuary Retention Sling V2. It drains water away quickly without pooling, but still provides cushioning between fish and ground. The mesh is tough enough for repeated use without tearing or degrading.

How Practical Is It To Transport?

At 6.75kg, the Trakker Sanctuary is one of the heavier cradles on the market. You'll definitely notice the weight in your barrow load. This isn't a cradle for mobile fishing or stalking where every gram counts.

The six-leg frame does fold flat for transport, and Trakker claim fast setup and pack down. In reality, it takes a few minutes to unfold all six legs and adjust them to level the cradle.

It's not complicated, but it's not as quick as fold-flat options like the Nash Hi-Protect or pop-up designs.

The supplied carry bag is decent quality. Everything packs in reasonably well once you've got the legs folded, though the packed size is still bulkier than lightweight alternatives. It fits in most barrows, but you're not slipping this in a rucksack for mobile sessions.

The leg locking pins and rotating mud feet add to setup time but provide the stability that justifies the weight. Once it's set up, it stays rock solid for your entire session. You're not adjusting it constantly or worrying about stability.

For fixed swim fishing where you're setting up properly for multi-day sessions, the portability trade-off is acceptable. You set it up once and benefit from exceptional protection for days.

But if you're regularly moving swims or doing short sessions, lighter options make more sense.
