That compartment is designed to help keep water out in hard rain.

A large zipped front pocket takes medium tackle and rig boxes, with two zipped side pockets for items you want close by. The lid has its own zipped pocket for buzz bars and bite alarms.

Tactical camo, four external zipped pockets and oversized zips complete the bag's hard-wearing finish.
