Product Information
The Skeater Chaser is Skeater's entry-level deadbait range, designed for UK pike and zander anglers fishing static baits. Five models are available: 9ft, two 10ft versions, 11ft and 12ft, all built on a 30T through-action carbon blank in a two-piece configuration.
The guide set is double-leg Zirconium (ZrO2) with sloped frames and an anti-frap tip guide. The reel seat is a nylon-reinforced DPS, sized DPS 17 on the 9ft and DPS 18 on all longer models. The handle combines a natural cork main grip with a black and grey camouflage EVA foregrip section.
Casting weights range from 20-50g on the 9ft up to 90-120g on the 12ft 3lb, with the two 10ft models covering 90-120g and 100-140g respectively. The 11ft sits at 80-110g with a 2.75lb test curve. Skeater state float fishing, legering and paternoster rigs as the intended methods across the range.
Each rod is supplied with a green protective sleeve. The Chaser sits below the Chaser Pro in Skeater's deadbait range, which uses what Skeater describe as X-Grade reinforced carbon. The Chaser is positioned at the budget end of the UK deadbait rod market.

Features and Specifications
| Feature | What this means |
|---|---|
| Blank: 30T Through-Action Carbon Fibre | A through-action blank bends progressively from tip to butt rather than just in the upper section, which cushions the cast of soft deadbaits so they stay on the hook during flight and absorbs the lunges of a pike at close range. The 30T carbon rating keeps the blank light without going to the extreme stiffness of higher-modulus materials. |
| Guides: Double-Leg Zirconium (ZrO2) with Anti-Frap Tip Guide | Double-leg frames keep the guides rigid on the blank under the load of heavy braid. Zirconium rings are compatible with both mono and braid without grooving over time. The sloped frames and dedicated anti-frap tip guide are there to reduce line tangling on the cast and stop braid wrapping around the tip in wind. |
| Reel Seat: Nylon-Reinforced DPS (DPS 17 on 9ft / DPS 18 on 10-12ft) | A screw-up DPS seat with a collar that tightens over the reel foot. The 9ft gets the smaller DPS 17 to keep weight down, while the longer models step up to the DPS 18 to suit the wider feet on larger pike reels. Nylon reinforcement gives a secure grip in wet conditions. |
| Handle: Cork and Camouflage EVA Hybrid with Ergonomic Foregrip | Natural cork on the main grip with a black and grey camouflage EVA foregrip section, finished with a black anodised aluminium butt cap laser-etched with the Skeater logo. The two-material handle gives distinct grip zones for your casting and reel hand. |
| Sections: 2-Piece | Supplied With Green Protective Rod Sleeve | All five models are two-piece, so even the 12ft breaks down to around 6ft for transport. Every rod comes with a green protective sleeve to keep the blank safe in a rod bag or holdall. |
| Available Models: 9ft (20-50g) / 10ft 3lb (90-120g) / 10ft 3.5lb (100-140g) / 11ft 2.75lb (80-110g) / 12ft 3lb (90-120g) | Five models covering a wide range of situations. The 9ft at 20-50g suits close-range work, boat fishing and stalking on small waters. The two 10ft versions cover standard pike fishing, with the 3.5lb handling heavier baits. The 11ft 2.75lb is the lighter through-action option for zander. The 12ft 3lb is the big-water distance rod. |
| Suitable Methods: Float Fishing, Legering, Paternoster Rigs | The through-action blank covers the three main static deadbait approaches. Float fishing suspends the bait at a set depth with visual indication at the surface. Legering pins the bait on or near the bottom with a running lead. A paternoster rig holds the bait off the bottom at a fixed distance above the lead. |

Frequently Asked Questions
What lengths does the Skeater Chaser Deadbait Rod come in?
Five lengths: 9ft (20-50g), 10ft in two test curves (3lb and 3.5lb), 11ft 2.75lb and 12ft 3lb. All are two-piece. The casting weight varies significantly between models, so check the rating of the specific model you are buying.
What is the casting weight of the Skeater Chaser Deadbait Rod?
It depends on the model. The 9ft is rated 20-50g. The 10ft 3lb covers 90-120g and the 10ft 3.5lb covers 100-140g. The 11ft 2.75lb is rated 80-110g and the 12ft 3lb covers 90-120g.
What reel suits the Skeater Chaser Deadbait Rod?
Skeater fit a DPS 18 reel seat on the 10ft, 11ft and 12ft models, which suits standard-size pike reels. A 4000-6000 fixed-spool reel loaded with 15-20lb mono or 30-50lb braid with a wire trace is a typical setup for deadbait pike fishing at this rod specification.
What is the difference between the Skeater Chaser and the Chaser Pro?
The Chaser uses a 30T through-action carbon blank. The Chaser Pro uses what Skeater describe as 30T X-Grade reinforced carbon and is positioned as a step up in the range with upgraded components. Both cover similar lengths and deadbait applications.
What is included with the Skeater Chaser Deadbait Rod?
Each rod comes with a green protective rod sleeve. No other accessories are listed by Skeater as included.
