5 Things To Know

  1. The Incredible 'Pult is a dedicated distance catapult for grouping pellets, particles and boilies tightly at long range.
  2. Its light, slim hollow frame keeps a robust elastic running through it on super-smooth runners.
  3. Four pegging points let you alter the elastic tension to suit the range you are fishing.
  4. A moulded heavy-duty pouch holds the bait, and the rugged frame has a non-twist design.
  5. Trade-off to note: Spare elastics and pouches are sold separately.

Guru Incredible ‘Pult Catapult Review

Most match catapults are built for the pole line, but the Guru Incredible 'Pult is a dedicated distance pult for grouping pellets, particles and even boilies tightly at long range. It has a light, slim hollow frame with the elastic running through it, smooth runners to reduce wear on that elastic, a moulded heavy-duty pouch and a rugged non-twist design.

So, the real difference is adjustability. Four pegging points let you change the elastic tension to suit the range you're fishing, so one pult can cover a long pellet waggler line or fire boilies towards reed-lined margins.

Spares are sold separately, but I think it's one of the more versatile pults a match angler can carry.

Build quality 8.5/10
Accuracy & Range 8.5/10
Ease of Use 8.0/10
Value for money 8.5/10

How well is it built?

The frame is light, slim and hollow, and the elastic runs through it, which keeps everything tidy. The super-smooth runners where it passes through the frame are there to cut down on wear, and that should mean fewer snapped elastics halfway through a match.

Hollow construction keeps the weight down without making the frame flimsy, and the green handle is easy to spot on a busy side tray.

The pouch is a moulded heavy-duty type rather than a soft one, so it holds its shape and should keep a pouchful of pellets together as it's released.

The frame has a rugged non-twist design, and it's paired with extra-strong, durable elastic that's built for accuracy and long life.

Is it as chunky as a carp pult like the Korda Katapult? No, it's lighter and slimmer, which suits a match angler firing it all day. For a match distance pult, I think the 8.5 is fully deserved.

Accuracy & Range

Distance is the whole point of this pult. The heavy-duty pouch is shaped to group feed tightly at range, and the extra-strong elastic gives it enough power for a long pellet waggler line, which is well beyond what a pole-line pult like the Drennan Pole Line Pellet Pult can reach.

The pegging points are the clever bit. Moving the elastic between them changes its tension, so you can back the power off for a closer line or wind it up when you need every metre.

That makes it far more flexible than a pult with one fixed elastic setting, and it means you're not over-powering a short line.

For me, being able to tune the range to the swim is what earns the 8.5. Consistent groupings at distance still take practice, but the pult gives you the tools to get there.

Ease of Use

Why the lower score for ease of use? The pegging points are a real asset, but they also mean a bit of trial and error before you find the right tension for each line.

A beginner who just wants to pick it up and feed would be better off starting with something simpler, like the Drennan Match Catapults.

Once it's set, the non-twist frame and smooth runners should keep it firing without stopping to untangle, and the slim frame is light in the hand over a long session.

The pouch has a pull cord, so it's easy to hold as you draw back, and because the elastic runs through the frame rather than hanging off the fork tips, there's less to catch on your clothing or bait tubs as you load it.

Overall, it's pretty much straightforward for an experienced match angler, and the 8.0 just reflects that the extra adjustment asks a little more of you.

Is it good value for money?

How does it stack up on price? It sits in the middle of the match pults, a little more than the Drennan Pole Line Pellet Pult and the Preston Dura Slip, and a fair bit less than a carp pult like the Korda Katapult.

For a pult that covers long-range match feeding and can double up for boilies, that's a good deal.

The one thing to factor in is that spare elastics and pouches are sold separately, so over a season of heavy use you'll add the cost of replacements.

I'd recommend it to match and pleasure anglers who fish the pellet waggler at range, and to anyone who wants one pult they can tune from a medium line out to long range. If you only feed a pole line, the Drennan Pole Line Pellet Pult is cheaper and more than enough.

Pros

  • Four pegging points let you tune elastic tension to the range
  • Heavy-duty moulded pouch is shaped to group feed tightly at distance
  • Smooth frame runners reduce wear on the elastic
  • Light, slim hollow frame with a rugged non-twist design
  • Reaches a long pellet waggler line and can fire boilies too

Cons

  • Spare elastics and pouches are sold separately
  • Finding the right pegging point takes some trial and error
