5 Things To Know

  1. The Deluxe Bivvy Table has a deep recessed ABS top that keeps small essentials together and stops them rolling away.
  2. A long recess at the rear holds a phone or tablet upright beside the bedchair.
  3. Dedicated positions for Trakker rig tools sit along the right-hand edge, with rig storage on both short sides.
  4. Quick-lock folding legs pack it down compactly, and cam-lock adjustment sets the height from 24cm to 37cm.
  5. Assembled, the table measures 48 x 31cm, a compact size for use inside a bivvy.

Trakker Deluxe Bivvy Table Review

A bivvy table has one real job, which is keeping the small stuff off the groundsheet and within reach of the bed, and the Trakker Deluxe Bivvy Table is designed around exactly that. Its top is a deep recessed ABS moulding that holds small essentials together, and there's a long slot at the back for standing a phone or tablet.

So, what lifts it above a plain tray on legs? Rig storage runs along both short sides, the right-hand edge has set positions for Trakker rig tools, and quick-lock folding legs with cam-lock adjustment take it from 24cm to 37cm high.

At 48 x 31cm, it's a compact size that fits beside a bedchair without eating into the bivvy, and for me, it's a really thoughtfully laid out table for the money.

Build quality 8.5/10
Stability & Footing 8.5/10
Storage & Organisation 9.0/10
Value for money 8.5/10

How well is it built?

The top is a single ABS moulding, and ABS is a tough, impact-resistant plastic that's used for all sorts of outdoor kit.

It shouldn't dent the way a thin aluminium sheet can if it takes a knock in the car or gets dropped on a gravel swim, and the deep recess moulded into it adds stiffness as well as storage.

The legs fold away with a quick-lock action, and each one has a cam lock for setting the height. Cam locks are a proven system on carp kit, as they're quick to open and close with cold or wet hands.

The legs angle out slightly from the corners too, and there's a small foot on the end of each one.

To be fair, it isn't an all-metal table like the Avid Revolve Bivvy Table XL, and some anglers will always prefer the feel of aluminium. For a table that lives beside the bed, though, I think the moulded top is a sensible choice, and the 8.5 is fair.

Stability & Footing

Will it sit level on a sloping peg? Each leg has its own cam lock, so you can lengthen the downhill pair and shorten the uphill pair until the top is flat.

That matters more than it sounds, because a table on a slant is exactly how a phone or a mug ends up on the floor in the dark.

The 24cm to 37cm height range covers most bedside setups. Set low, it tucks in beside a low bedchair, and near the top of its range, it should sit at about the height of a typical bedchair frame, so whatever's on it stays within easy reach when you're lying down.

A compact 48 x 31cm footprint suits a tight bivvy too.

The feet are small, standard ones rather than wide mud feet, so on very soft ground the NGT Dynamic Bivvy Table has the edge. On a groundsheet or a firm bank, I'd expect it to be pretty much as steady as you'd want, and that's why it scores 8.5.

Storage & Organisation

This is where the Deluxe really earns its place. The deep recess acts like a built-in tray, so leads, a head torch, a lighter and your keys stay together rather than sliding off when the bedchair gets knocked in the night.

Isn't that what you want a bivvy table to do above everything else?

The slot at the rear is a clever touch, as it keeps a phone or tablet upright and out of the way, so you can check the weather or watch something without propping it against a bottle.

Along the right-hand edge, Trakker's own rig tools each have a dedicated spot, and rig storage runs down both short sides, so your tools and tied rigs each have a home away from the main surface.

Next to the Fox Compact 2 Tier Bivvy Table, which adds a raised shelf, the Trakker keeps everything on one level but gives more items a fixed place. For me, that's the smarter system for grabbing things in the dark, and it's why it gets a 9.0.

Is it good value for money?

It sits in the middle of the price range for bivvy tables. It costs a little more than the Fox Compact 2 Tier Bivvy Table and more again than the Avid Revolve Bivvy Table XL, and the Avid gives you a bigger surface.

What you're paying for with the Trakker is the layout, with the recessed top, the rear slot, the tool positions and the rig storage all built in.

It's a lot cheaper than a big session table such as the Fox Session Table XXL, but that's a different tool for cooking and rig making rather than something to keep beside the bed. If you only need a cheap flat surface, the Sonik Bank-Tek Bivvy Table costs a good deal less.

Overall, I'd recommend the Deluxe to carp anglers who fish overnighters and weekenders and want everything they reach for at night organised in one compact, tidy spot beside the bedchair.
