Product Information

The Nytro Sublime X8 Sinking Feederbraid is an eight-strand main line made for precision feeder fishing. Its PTFE-infused core keeps it sinking effectively over time, even as the outer colour coating fades.

The fast-sinking braid has a round profile for smooth handling and accurate casting. High knot strength and abrasion resistance are paired with zero stretch for crisp, responsive bite indication.

The 300m spool comes in 0.08mm, 0.10mm and 0.12mm diameters. The same braid is also supplied on 150m spools in the three diameters.

Nytro Sublime X8 Sinking Feederbraid 300m Review

Outer coatings fade with use, and the clever part of the Nytro Sublime X8 Sinking Feederbraid is that it keeps sinking when they do. A PTFE-infused core sits inside the eight strands, so the line should go on sinking long after the colour coating starts to wear.

It's a fast-sinking, round, zero-stretch mainline made for precision feeder fishing. This version comes on a 300m spool in 0.08mm, 0.10mm and 0.12mm, rated at 8lb, 10lb and 12lb, and the same braid is sold on 150m spools too. Why 300m? It's enough to top two reel spools over backing, which is handy if you run more than one feeder reel.

It's a big outlay up front, though, and that's why value comes out below the other scores.

Strength & Abrasion

High knot strength and high abrasion resistance are both in the spec, and the outer coating is smooth and abrasion-resistant too.

That's a sound pairing for a feeder mainline, because the knot is the weak point on any thin braid, and abrasion resistance counts where the line runs over gravel, mussels or rough bottoms on the retrieve.

The rated strains are 8lb (3.6kg) for the 0.08mm, 10lb (4.5kg) for the 0.10mm and 12lb (5.5kg) for the 0.12mm.

That's much the same as the Drennan Acolyte Feeder Braid and modest next to the Matrix Submerge or the Guru Pulse 9, so I'd compare thickness rather than the pound figure when choosing between them.

As a general point, a shock leader still makes sense when you're casting a heavy feeder. Overall, the knot strength and abrasion resistance make it a dependable mainline, and I think 8.5 is about right.

Casting & Handling

So, will it cast well? Eight-strand braid is rounder and smoother than four-strand, and the round profile on this one is built for smooth handling and accurate casting.

Precise diameter control should also keep each spool consistent, which helps when you're clipping up and hitting the same spot cast after cast.

The diameters are thin, at 0.08mm to 0.12mm, so the line catches little wind on the way out. A round braid should also lie evenly on the reel and spill off in neat coils rather than loose loops.

The 300m spool is useful as well, since you can load a second reel spool, cut back a damaged section or re-spool without buying more line.

For me, accuracy matters as much as distance on the feeder, because a tight baited area relies on every feeder landing in the same place. A round, consistent braid helps with both, so the 8.5 is fair.

Presentation

The PTFE-infused core is the standout feature for presentation. The braid is fast sinking from new, and because the core keeps it sinking as the outer colour coating fades, it should keep getting under the surface and out of the drift long after the coating has worn.

That matters more than it sounds, because a braid that starts to float as it ages lets the wind bow the line and drag the feeder off the spot.

Zero stretch gives crisp, responsive bite indication, so small knocks at range should show clearly on the quivertip. Can a line be too direct? With no stretch, it won't soak up the lunges of a fish close in, so a forgiving tip and a mono hooklength are worth pairing with it.

Overall, a braid that keeps sinking over time and shows bites crisply is well suited to precision feeder fishing, and 8.5 is a fair score.

Is it good value for money?

The 300m spool is a big spend up front, and that's why value scores 7.5. It's twice the length of a typical 150m feeder braid spool, so the cost per metre is in line with other quality feeder braids, but you're still paying more in one go than for a 150m spool.

The spec is a quality one for the money, with the PTFE core, a round eight-strand build, abrasion resistance and zero stretch all on board. Next to the Matrix Submerge, it adds the PTFE-infused core and a longer spool, while the Matrix is rated stronger at each diameter.

If you only fish one feeder reel, the 150m spool of the same braid makes more sense.

Overall, I'd recommend the 300m Sublime X8 to precision feeder anglers who load more than one reel and want a braid that keeps sinking long after its coating has faded.
