5 Things To Know

  1. The Concept GT Double Roller has two super-smooth, independent EVA rollers set side by side.
  2. Three upright rollers, one at each end and one in the centre, create a layout suited to double shipping.
  3. Four telescopic legs lock fully when extended, keeping the frame stable once it's set up.
  4. It's a lightweight roller, so it's easy to carry along the bank to your peg.
  5. Trade-off to note: Light frame lacks the heft of premium double rollers in wind.

Leeda Concept GT Double Roller Review

Most budget pole rollers give you one horizontal roller and two uprights, so the Leeda Concept GT Double Roller stands out straight away. It has two independent EVA rollers side by side and three upright rollers, one at each end and one in the middle, which is the layout you want for double shipping on a busy commercial.

It's light, it stands on four telescopic legs that lock fully once extended, and it costs about the same as a basic single roller. Is there a catch? The frame is on the lightweight side and isn't as solid as a premium double roller, but for anglers who want a double roller without spending big, I think it makes a lot of sense.

Build quality 7.5/10
Performance & Handling 8.5/10
Stability & Footing 8.0/10
Value for money 8.5/10

How well is it built?

The GT is built around a light frame with four telescopic legs, and each leg locks fully when it's extended. That matters more than it sounds, because a leg that can't creep shorter under the weight of a pole keeps the roller level through a whole match.

The two horizontal rollers are EVA and turn independently, with three upright rollers spaced along the top.

So, why only 7.5?

Being lightweight is handy when you're carrying gear to a far peg, but a light budget frame isn't going to have the heft or the finishing touches of the MAP Dual Pole Roller Mk11, which runs its foam rollers on stainless steel bearings and has anchor points for weights or guy ropes.

It's a tidy, practical build that should last well with a bit of care. For me, though, the frame is a step below the Preston Innovations Ignition Pole Roller for solidity, and the 7.5 reflects that.

Performance & Handling

This is where the GT earns its keep. The two EVA rollers turn independently, so each half can move at its own pace, and with the centre upright splitting the top into two channels you can run the pole back over one side or the other.

That's exactly what double shipping needs, and it's rare to get it at this sort of price.

EVA is a sensible choice too, as it's soft on a pole and should grip it enough to roll rather than skid. The rollers are made to be super smooth, and the end uprights stop the pole drifting off either side.

The MAP Dual Pole Roller Mk11 is the more versatile double roller, because its centre upright moves between mounting points or comes out altogether.

The Leeda gives you the core double-shipping layout for less than half the money, though, and I think the 8.5 is fair for a budget roller that's set up properly for the job.

Stability & Footing

A leg at each corner gives the GT a steady stance, and the legs splay outwards to widen the footprint. Each one ends in a spiked foot, so it should bite into a grassy bank and stay where you put it.

Because the legs lock fully, you can also set the front and back legs at different lengths on a sloping bank without worrying about them slipping.

Being light is the trade-off. A lightweight roller is easy to carry, but it can be pushed around more easily by a heavy pole landing on it or a gusty side wind. Would I want something heavier on an exposed lake in a strong blow?

Probably, and that's where the anchor points on the MAP Dual Pole Roller Mk11 earn their money.

On most commercial pegs, though, it should be plenty steady enough, and the 8.0 reflects a roller that's stable rather than rock solid.

Is it good value for money?

For a double roller, the value is very good.

It costs about the same as the Preston Innovations Ignition Pole Roller, which is a single roller, and less than half as much as the MAP Dual Pole Roller Mk11 or the Daiwa Rockin Roller, both of which are built around that same idea of shipping across two rollers.

Both are lovely bits of kit, but they're premium rollers with prices to match, and the Leeda gives you pretty much the same basic idea for far less.

The trade-off is the lighter build, which is why value sits at 8.5 rather than higher, as the Ignition's sturdier frame gives a touch more confidence for the same money.

Overall, I'd recommend the Concept GT Double Roller to match anglers and commercial regulars who double ship and want that layout without paying premium prices.

If you only ever fish one line, the Ignition is the simpler buy, but for double shipping on a budget, I'd pick the Leeda.
