How well is it built?

Despite its affordable price point, the Red Range Method Feeder Rod showcases Drennan's commitment to quality. The rod features a high-quality carbon blank construction, which provides durability and a progressive through action.

This design is crucial for method feeder fishing, as it helps absorb sudden lunges and reduces the chance of hook pulls when playing larger fish. The rod is fitted with lightweight and durable aluminium oxide guides, ensuring smooth line flow and improved casting accuracy.

The handle is a comfortable combination of cork and Duplon, providing a secure grip in all conditions.

The lightweight aluminium oxide guides contribute to smooth line flow during the cast, enhancing both distance and accuracy. As I said previously I was able to hit a spot at around 60 yards with good accuracy using a 30g flatbed feeder.

How does it perform when playing fish?

Personally, I found the Red Range Method Feeder a powerful tool when playing larger fish, however, I did think it lacked a touch of finesse you often find in the more premium feeder fishing rods.

That said we are talking about a rod that is some £300 cheaper than the top feeder rods on the market so it can definitely be forgiven for that. It does have the power and balance to absorb sudden lunges effectively, which I find does reduce the chance of hook pulls.

Its progressive action is easily capable of handling double-figure fish with relative ease.

Is it good value for money?

In terms of value for money, the Drennan Red Range Method Feeder Rod is hard to beat. It offers a blend of performance and quality that belies its affordable price point.

The rod comes supplied with two slow taper glass feeder tips (3oz and 4oz), adding to its versatility and value. These tips are also compatible with all standard Drennan Feeder Tips, allowing for further customisation.

The rod's ability to handle a range of method feeder tactics, from casting small flatbed feeders to larger 30g-plus methods, means it can grow with an angler as they develop their skills.
