How well is it built?

The zips are a highlight of the build. They're heavy-duty and anti-snag, which matters on a weigh sling because a zip that catches or jams is the last thing you want with a fish inside, and the stitching is reinforced at the stress points where the sling takes the load.

The central metal eyelets are a neat touch too, as they're positioned so the sling hangs from the right point on the scales. Integrated cut-outs serve as carry handles, built into the body of the sling.

Metal eyelets should also stand up to the hook of a set of scales better than fabric loops would.

Compared with the Nash Carp Care Weigh Sling Camo and its extra-strong aluminium bar, it's a lighter build, and that's why it sits at 8.2. For a sling that's this light and packs this small, though, I think it's well made.

Fish Care

Why does quick-drying material matter for fish care? A sling that dries fast is less likely to go back in your bag damp and dirty, and the material is ultra fish-friendly, so it's kind to a carp's slime coat when you lift it.

With the central eyelets placing the scales correctly, the sling should hang evenly, so the fish lies level rather than sliding to one end, which makes it easier to keep still while you take the reading.

The anti-snag zips should also open cleanly when it's time to let the fish go.

It's a weigh sling rather than a retainer, so it isn't designed to hold a fish in the water. Wet it before the fish goes in, zero your scales with the wet sling and get the fish back promptly, and I think 8.2 is a fair score.

Ease of Use

This is the Revolve's strongest area. It's light, and its packed size of 113 x 15 x 8cm makes it a slim package for anglers who like to travel light.

If you fish short sessions or move swims a lot, that's exactly what you want from a weigh sling, and the drawstring bag keeps it all together between sessions.

The integrated cut-outs make it easy to carry the sling with a fish in it, and the central metal eyelets mean you can hook the scales on in one go. At 108 x 57.5cm, it's a little smaller than some weigh slings, which helps keep the weight down.

The anti-snag zips should be quick to work with cold, wet hands, too.

Is there a downside? A smaller sling gives a very big carp less room, so if you target 40lb fish, a larger sling makes sense. For mobile anglers, though, I think 8.4 is well deserved.

Is it good value for money?

For a weigh sling from a big carp brand, it's one of the cheaper options, and the spec is strong for the money. Anti-snag zips, reinforced stitching, metal eyelets, quick-drying fish-friendly material and a light, packable design are all things you'd expect on a dearer sling.

There's very little you'd want to add for the money.

The Korda Basix Weigh Sling is the budget alternative if you want a floating sling for moving a fish in the water, while the Nash Carp Care Weigh Sling Camo gives you an extra-strong aluminium bar and a longer body.

For pure weighing on the move, the Revolve is hard to argue with, and 8.5 for value reflects that.

I'd recommend the Revolve to mobile carp anglers, short-session anglers and anyone who wants a light, quick-drying weigh sling that packs down small and won't take up much room in the car.
