NGT Dynamic MK2 3pc Wireless Alarm Set
Product Information
The NGT Dynamic MK2 3pc Wireless Alarm Set gives wireless bite indication through three alarms and a receiver, with seven multicoloured LEDs and micro-adjustable sensitivity, volume and tone controls.
A 20-second latching LED on both alarms and receiver keeps the last activation visible at night.
A rolling code function avoids interference from other alarms, while the anti-theft feature makes the receiver sound when an alarm is switched off first. The waterproof, impact-resistant housings include black snag bars, alarm covers and an ABS receiver stand.
Night-light and vibration functions are built into the set, with a low-battery warning and an output jack for illuminated indicators. The wireless range is 100 to 150m in suitable conditions, and it runs on one 9V battery per alarm and three AAA batteries for the receiver.

NGT Dynamic MK2 3pc Wireless Alarm Set Review
The NGT Dynamic MK2 3pc Wireless Alarm Set gives you three alarms and a receiver in one box, along with black snag bars, a cover for each alarm and an ABS stand for the receiver. Each alarm has seven multicoloured LEDs, micro-adjustable sensitivity and its own volume and tone controls, and a 20-second latching LED shows which rod went off on both the alarms and the receiver.
So, what makes it stand out? For me, it's the receiver. It works at 100 to 150m depending on conditions, with a vibration mode, a night-light function, a low-battery warning and an anti-theft feature, and it runs on three AAA batteries.
To be fair, each alarm needs a 9V battery and the detection isn't as refined as on the dearer sets, but overall I think it's a lot of kit for the money.
How well is it built?
NGT describe the alarm housings as waterproof and impact resistant, which is pretty much what you want from something that sits on a buzz bar in all weathers.
The black snag bars come in the box, along with a cover for each alarm and an ABS stand for the receiver, so you're not buying extras just to get set up.
Looking at the photos, the alarms have a chunky, rounded body with four small control dials set into the face, and the receiver has a short aerial and two dials of its own.
For me, the covers are a sensible extra, because they give the heads a bit of protection when they're packed away in the bag.
Is it as tough as a premium alarm? I don't think so, and that's why it scores 7.5 here rather than in the eights. Overall, though, it's a solid budget build, and as long as you look after it I'd expect it to stand up to normal use well.
How good is bite detection?
For me, detection on the Dynamic MK2 is good rather than great. NGT give each alarm micro-adjustable sensitivity, so you can turn it up for finicky takes at range or down when wind and undertow are moving the line about.
The head has a dial marked S for sensitivity next to the tone and volume dials, so it's quick to change.
The seven multicoloured LEDs make it easy to tell the rods apart, and the 20-second latching LED on both the alarms and the receiver shows you which rod went off if you've looked away or nipped into the bivvy.
There's also an output jack for illuminated indicators, which I like to see on a set at this level.
The dearer alarms in our guide, like the Fox Mini Micron X with its separate drop-back tone, give you a bit more to go on. Overall, I think the NGT is fine for everyday carp fishing, but it isn't a set I'd pick for really twitchy fish.
What are the features like?
Features are the NGT's strongest point, and most of them sit on the receiver. It works at 100 to 150m depending on conditions, which is plenty for a normal swim, and it has volume and tone control, a vibration mode, a night-light function and a low-battery warning.
It runs on three AAA batteries and stands upright in its own ABS stand, rather than lying flat.
There are a couple of clever extras too.
A rolling code function helps avoid interference from other anglers' alarms, and the anti-theft feature makes the receiver sound if an alarm is switched off before it, which gives you a bit of peace of mind when you step away from the rods.
The one thing I'd flag is the batteries. Each alarm takes a 9V battery and NGT list them as not included, so you'll need to buy them first. To be fair, that's a small point, and the Nash Siren R2 doesn't have a vibration mode on its receiver at all.
Is it good value for money?
So, is it worth the money? I think so. You get three alarms, a receiver with vibration and a night light, snag bars, covers and a stand, and the whole set costs less than the Fox Mini Micron X, Nash Siren R2, Sonik Gizmo 2 and Prologic Element Com-Pact sets in our guide.
The trade-offs are the 9V batteries, which you'll need to buy, and detection that's sound rather than refined.
The Korum KSi6 set costs less again and runs on AAA batteries throughout, but the NGT gives you more on the receiver, including the night light, the anti-theft feature and the stand.
Overall, I'd recommend the Dynamic MK2 to anglers who want a three-rod set with a properly featured receiver without paying for a big-name system, and I think it's a sensible step up for anyone moving on from single alarms.
If you target really cautious fish or want the most refined detection, I'd save up for one of the dearer sets instead.
