Delkim Bite Alarms Explained: Txi-D v2 vs EV-R
Delkim is one of the best-known names in carp bite alarms, but its range can be confusing, because there are two current families and an EV-R alarm won't work with the Rx-D or Rx-D v2 receivers.
This page explains how the Delkim range fits together, what the Txi-D v2 adds over the EV-R, and which one is right for you.
Let's get straight into it.
How the Delkim Range Is Structured
There are two current Delkim families, and each has its own alarm and its own receiver:
- Digital v2: the Txi-D v2 alarm and the Rx-D v2 receiver. Delkim calls this its flagship range.
- Digital EV-R: the EV-R alarm and the EV-R receiver. Delkim calls the EV-R its entry-level model.
Both families use Delkim's piezo vibration sensing rather than a roller wheel. The alarm picks up line movement, rod-tip nods and vibrations from the end tackle that don't always move the line. Delkim says both are assembled and individually tested in the UK.
You can buy the alarms as single heads, the receivers on their own, or both together as Presentation Sets. Both families come as 2 rod and 3 rod Presentation Sets.
Txi-D v2 vs EV-R: Side by Side
| Txi-D v2 | EV-R | |
|---|---|---|
| Detection | Piezo vibration sensing | Piezo vibration sensing |
| Tones | 32 digital tones | 8 digital tones, volume 0 to 100dB |
| Sensitivity | Vibration Response, plus Beep Speed | Vibration Response |
| LEDs | Twin 3mm multi-colour, 8 brightness levels, separate day and night settings | Twin 3mm, six colours, Night Mode |
| Anti-theft | Advanced (ATMD): warns the Rx-D v2 if the alarm is moved or switched off | Basic: alerts the EV-R receiver if the alarm is switched off |
| Battery | 9V PP3 | 9V PP3 |
| Weatherproofing | 100% weatherproof, synthetic rubber coating | 100% weatherproof, synthetic rubber coating |
| Receiver | Rx-D v2: up to 750m (depending on bankside conditions), up to 12 alarms | EV-R receiver: up to 200m, up to 4 alarms |
| Works with | Rx-D v2 and the original Rx-D | EV-R receiver only |
The one row to read twice is the last one. Pick a family and stay with it, because an EV-R alarm won't talk to a v2 receiver.
What Does the Txi-D v2 Actually Add?
Both alarms sense bites the same way, so the difference is in control, range and the system around them.
More control at the alarm
The Txi-D v2 has 32 tones against the EV-R's eight, plus Beep Speed alongside Vibration Response. Its LEDs have eight brightness levels with separate day and night settings, its Night Marking can be switched off, and Stealth Mode turns the LEDs off on a run. Both alarms can mute the speaker for up to five minutes after casting.
Anti-theft
The Txi-D v2's ATMD system sends a warning to the Rx-D v2 if an alarm is moved or switched off. The EV-R's anti-theft is more basic: it only warns its receiver when the alarm is switched off, with no movement detection.
A much stronger receiver
The Rx-D v2 reaches up to 750m, depending on bankside conditions, and links up to 12 alarms. It also has a vibration alert, a Quick Torch that lights all its LEDs, a Bivvy Light Mode, Last Activity Recall and a Do Not Disturb setting so heavy showers don't set it off. The EV-R receiver covers up to 200m and four alarms, and both receivers have an anti-theft alarm.
SmartLite drop-back indication
With Txi-D v2 heads, the SmartLite Presentation Set matches each hanger to the alarm's LED colour and tells a forward run from a drop-back, with a two-tone sound for drop-backs. The signal is repeated on the Rx-D v2. Delkim says the EV-R works with SmartLite hangers too.
Which Delkim Should You Buy?
Buy the Txi-D v2 if you fish nights on big waters, want the longest receiver range, run more than four rods, or want movement-detecting (ATMD) anti-theft and SmartLite drop-backs repeated on the Rx-D v2. It's the Best overall bite alarm in our best bite alarms guide, and you can read our full Delkim Txi-D v2 review.
Buy the EV-R if you want Delkim's vibration sensing, weatherproofing and UK build for less. Up to four rods and 200m of range covers most swims, and it works with Delkim's visual indicators, including SmartLite hangers.
Either way, buy the alarms and receiver from the same family. Browse every model in our Delkim bite alarms range, or compare bite alarm sets and bite alarm receivers from other brands.
Delkim Indicators
- SmartLite: intelligent hangers with an integral multi-coloured LED and magnetic line clip, powered through a slim CatFlex 2 cable. They recognise drop-backs and match the alarm's colour.
- NiteLite Illuminating Hanger V2: an illuminating hanger, line clip and alarm attachment in one, with a SlimCarb stabiliser and C-Slot drag weights for heavier weighting.
- SlimLite Clear: a clear hanger in six colours with a SlimCarb stabiliser and 3g, 5g and 10g weights. It works with all Delkim alarms.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you need a receiver with Delkim alarms?
No. Each alarm head works on its own, with its own tones and LEDs. A receiver repeats every bite to your bivvy or pocket, which matters at night or if you step away from the rods. Every Txi-D v2 and EV-R alarm Presentation Set comes with one, already paired.
Are Delkim bite alarms waterproof?
Delkim describes both the Txi-D v2 and the EV-R as 100% weatherproof, and both ranges use its synthetic rubber coating. The EV-R also has sealed mouldings.
Will an EV-R alarm work with an Rx-D v2 receiver?
No. The EV-R only works with the EV-R receiver, not the Rx-D or Rx-D v2. The Rx-D v2 pairs with Txi-D v2 alarms, although a Txi-D v2 alarm also works with the original Rx-D receiver.
How many alarms can one Delkim receiver take?
The Rx-D v2 can link with up to 12 Txi-D v2 alarms. The EV-R receiver takes up to four EV-R alarms.
Txi-D v2 or EV-R: which should you buy?
Buy the Txi-D v2 if you want the full system: 32 tones, movement-detecting ATMD anti-theft and a receiver with up to 750m of range that takes up to 12 alarms. Buy the EV-R if you want Delkim's vibration sensing and weatherproofing for less, on up to four rods within 200m of your receiver.
