How we review

How the eTackle review process works

Making an informed choice about fishing tackle matters, especially as many items don’t come cheap. Here’s exactly how we review and score every product on eTackle.

Why it matters

Honest, unbiased reviews in one place

A critical part of choosing the right tackle is honest, reliable reviews based on real angling expertise. While many websites offer reviews of fishing tackle, they often show a bias towards products sold on specific platforms, and they are rarely easy to navigate.

eTackle brings honest reviews, clear scores and live prices from established UK tackle shops together in one place, organised so you can filter by type, attributes and rating to find the right item quickly.

Our review process

Every product is assessed the same way

Every product on eTackle is assessed on the key attributes that matter most for that type of tackle, and each attribute is scored from 1 to 10.

  1. Step 1

    Research

We thoroughly research every product, from the manufacturer’s specification to the articles, videos and angler opinions around it.

  2. Step 2

    Score

Each key attribute is scored from 1 to 10, drawing on personal experience and that research, to give an honest and unbiased rating.

  3. Step 3

    Review

The research is distilled into a concise, easy-to-read review, so you get a straight answer on whether it’s worth your money.

The scoring scale

What our scores mean

The overall rating is the average of the attributes scored for that product, so you can compare products at a glance. Every score is our own.
