Drennan Keepnet 3m Carp
Product Information
The Drennan Keepnet 3m Carp is made for carp fishing, and its 3m length is better suited to deeper water. Super-soft carp sacking runs throughout the net, while hook-resistant material is used around the top ring.
A robust fail-safe Angle Tilt mechanism adjusts the net, and large-diameter stake-out points in the weighted bottom rings take a bank-stick. The weighted rings sink and can be staked out when necessary.
All three bottom rings are designed to pull through easily for match weigh-ins. The net measures 50cm by 40cm across and has a 3m length for deeper water.

Drennan Keepnet 3m Carp Review
Super-soft carp sacking runs from the top ring to the base of the Drennan Keepnet 3m Carp, and for me that's the first thing to look for in a net for commercial carp. It measures 50cm x 40cm across and is 3m long, so there's plenty of room for a decent weight of fish, and the extra length suits deeper water.
So, what else does it bring? Hook-resistant material goes around the top ring, the bottom rings are weighted, and all three of them pull through for the weigh-in. A fail-safe Angle Tilt mechanism holds the net at the angle you want, and that's a strong set of features for a mid-priced keepnet.
How well is it built?
The build starts with the sacking itself. It's a soft, tightly woven material that runs right through the net, so there's no switch from sacking to a coarser mesh partway down, and the 50cm x 40cm frame gives a roomy rectangular opening.
Around the top ring there's a hook-resistant material, which should stand up to hooks and landing-net frames catching the rim match after match.
The fittings are solid too. The Angle Tilt mechanism is a robust, fail-safe design, and each weighted bottom ring has a large-diameter stake-out point sized to take a bank-stick. Those fittings take a lot of strain on a keepnet, so it matters that they're sturdy.
To be fair, the Guru Coarse Keepnet 3m Carp Match goes a step further with an external sleeve to protect the mesh around its rings, which is why build sits just below that net. For a keepnet at this level, though, I think 8.5 is about right.
Fish Care
Why does carp sacking matter so much? It's soft and tightly woven, so it's far kinder to the fins, scales and mouths of bigger fish than an open mesh, and many commercials insist on carp-friendly material for that reason.
Having it throughout means a carp lying at the bottom of the net is against the same soft material as one near the top.
The 3m length and 50cm x 40cm frame give a bag of fish more room to spread out, and the weighted rings sink and can be pinned out, which keeps the net extended rather than collapsing onto the fish.
For me, that's pretty much everything you'd ask of a carp net on the fish-care side, and it's why this is the highest of the four scores. Stake it out in enough water, keep it out of strong sun and check your fishery's rules on retaining carp, and it'll look after your catch.
Ease of Use
Setting up should be simple. The Angle Tilt mechanism fits a bank-stick or seatbox arm and lets you set the angle of the top ring to suit the peg, and the fail-safe design should stop it slipping once it's set.
Out in the swim, the weighted rings sink on their own, and you can push a bank-stick through the stake-out points when there's a bit of tow or wind.
The weigh-in is where it earns its score. All three bottom rings pull through easily, so you can bring the fish up to the top of the net and into a weigh sling without wrestling the whole length of it.
The one downside is weight when wet. Carp sacking holds more water than an open mesh, so it'll be heavier to lift out and slower to dry before you pack it away, and a 3m net is a lot to fit on a shallow peg. That keeps it at 8.5 rather than higher.
Is it good value for money?
Is it worth the money? It's a mid-priced keepnet, and for that you get carp sacking throughout, a protected top ring, weighted rings that can be staked out and a pull-through base. Those are the features that matter most on a commercial, and there's no obvious corner cut.
Next to the Guru Coarse Keepnet 3m Carp Match, it has the same length and a very similar fish-care focus, while the Drennan Keepnet 2m Compact Carp suits venues with a weight limit per net, where several shorter nets sit side by side.
The only real limit is that it comes in one length, so it's a 3m net or nothing, and that won't suit every peg.
Overall, I'd recommend it to commercial match and pleasure anglers who catch carp in numbers and fish deeper pegs, where a full 3m net can be staked out properly and the fish have room to settle.
