Fox Halo AL350C Review
How well is it built?
The Fox Halo AL350C makes a strong first impression with its aluminium front casing. It feels tougher and more premium than the usual plastic options, giving you confidence when using it in harsh weather or chucking it in a tackle bag.
The separate rear battery housing improves balance and wearability. It stops the unit from feeling too front-heavy and makes it much more comfortable over long sessions. All the components feel well made, from the camo-pattern headband to the side-mounted switches.
The buttons give a positive click when pressed and are placed logically for use even when wearing gloves.
Lighting Performance
At 500 lumens in boost mode, this is one of the brightest head torches in its class. It easily lights up large areas, whether you are spotting your casting zone or finding your way back to the bivvy in the dark.
The standard white beam settings are well spaced out. The 350-lumen mode is perfect for walking or rig prep, 150 lumens works great in and around your shelter, and 25 lumens is ideal for close-up tasks or baiting up without over-lighting the swim.
The beam pattern is tight but with enough spread to avoid creating a tunnel effect. While it lacks front-facing coloured beams, the light quality is clean and consistent throughout all brightness settings.
Battery Life & Charging
Fox have opted for a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which is great news for modern anglers. No more rummaging for spares or carrying packs of AAAs — just plug it into a power bank with the included Micro USB cable.
The rear-mounted LED charge indicator is a handy touch. It glows red when charging and turns green when done, which makes topping up quick and fuss-free. It’s worth noting the battery takes a few full charge and discharge cycles to reach its best performance.
This is normal for lithium-ion cells and is clearly explained by Fox in the product guidance.
Is it good value for money?
At around £65, the AL350C is not the cheapest option, but the value is definitely there. You get a premium build, serious brightness, and reliable performance from a trusted brand. For anglers who want a strong white beam with no fuss, it is hard to beat.
The torch delivers excellent visibility and build quality without going into gimmicks or unneeded features.
If you want coloured modes or advanced beam control, you may need to spend a little more. But for general carp and coarse night fishing, this is a dependable all-rounder that does everything well.
